Knit-alongs

Knitting after 30...

As you know right now I am pissed.  I will try not to rush in my effort to recreate my fantabulous post that just got erased.  I also have just learned...save to draft when typing and linking and toggling for a long time without lunch.

Let's see.  Color on Color progress.  I have finished sections 1 - 16 (am just about to start section 12)  I have run out of some of the colors, which I am going out to purchase this afternoon...but overall I am excited to see the progress and see the end in sight.  I hope to get it almost done by next Friday when mom comes into town, and I can get her help with blocking.

Dsc05950   I took a break from the Color on Color on 8/31 to start Tube Toporini to wear on my 30th Birthday bash night out.  I got some gorgous Karabella Aurora 8 yarn, which I love, love, love.  Can't wait to knit with it again.  The 2nd pic isn't the best, but it's the only one for the night out where you can see the tank.

Dsc05944_1 Dsc05916_1

Take a peek at my Birthday treats from Chuck and Rory:

Dsc05947_1 Dsc05948_2 I'm going to make this.

Next was a trip to the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival.  We had a great time looking at all the yarns, the sheep and watching the dog trials.  Couldn't leave these 3 skeins of chunky weight 100% wool tweed from Briar Rose Fibers there though.

Dsc05945_1 Dsc05946_1 I think they will make an awesome sweater for Rory.  I was thinking the same Corregated Assymetrical V-Neck I am making from Loop-d-loop.

I had been stressing for a while about what to knit for my sister-in-law's baby shower.  With gender up in the air, I just couldn't focus on a project.  In the end I decided to put together a box of all of Rory's favorites, and knit this cute little Bubby.  Rory had fun modelling with him.  (*Stashbuster...I used some Rowan wool/cotton from the stash...too bad I will have to make 10 more to finish the skein)

Dsc05936_1 Dsc05937_1

So last night when I ran out of yarn knitting Section 12 on my Color on Color.  I decided to just go ahead and cast on for Ruffles from Scarf Style.  This will be a gift for someone with an October birthday.  I purchased the suggested Classic Elite Premiere, and it is really soft.  I think this will be a fun, easy knit.

Dsc05953_1 Finally, I have to say I have had a great week, really productive and busy.  Last week, I was experiencing one of those blue periods...but it feels so good to have gotten some things accomplished with my knitting, the garden, and with Rory.  This afternoon, I will also be heading to the post office to ship off my Sockapal2za Socks.  I hope my sock pal likes them.  I've been thinking about that Koigu ever since I finished.  Dsc05949_1

Now that wasn't so bad....if only I posted more often I won't have to update 3 weeks worth of knitting everytime I got on.  Here's to that.  And just a note...this is my 50th post. (Not counting the 23 on Everything Rory)  I have been on Typepad for 1 year, it's been fun, but I wish I could get into a more regular habit of posting.  I mean, we moved the computer into the kitchen for more easier access for God's sake.

Section 13

Well, I finally finished Section 11 of my Color on Color Scarf!  I love the way the colors blend into each other.

(Right Side followed by Wrong Side)

Dsc05794 Dsc05795 Although I must say, the 3 needle bind off was a major pain in the ass.  As you can see, Sections 7, 3, 4, 5, & 6 look a little puckered.  I think I was a little uneven when I picked up stitches to start Section 11.  Oh well.

Dsc05793

I knit Section 11 on size 5 needles. And now I am back on the 8's.  There has been many moments that I thought I should maybe frog the whole thing and start again on smaller needles, but I just couldn't do it. (I have a secret wish to maybe finish this for my 30th B-Day night out, Sept. 10th--I think it's a pipe dream though)

I decided to wait on Section 12, thank you to the many people who posted on the Color on Color Knitalong.  So all the colors for Sections 13 & 14 have been divided and are ready for our car trip up to Boulder Junction this weekend.  4 hours each way, hopefully I can get alot done!

Look what I finished!

I know I haven't updated in ummm, like 2 months, I won't even go into all my excuses.  More important is the fact that I have been knitting!

Check out Duncan's Baby Sweater:

Dsc05758 Next to one of the dozen or so zucchinis that have exploded on our garden.

And Sockapol2za Socks!  My first knitted pair ever.  Sock Pal, I hope you like them.

Dsc05763

And drumroll please, I have started my Color on Color Scarf from Scarf Style.  I am just about to start the Fair Isle section #11!  After much gauge angst, I have just decide to keep knitting and love the finished product however big it gets.  Pics of this to come.

It's been way toooo long

We have been here and back again.  July and August have gone by so fast, we can barely believe it.  I'll spare all the details, 'cause I know all you want to see are the pictures.

P.S.  I've been knitting.  I have completed projects!  Stay tuned!

just about too hot to knit

I am in project limbo.  I still have to finish the baby sweater for little Duncan.  I am stalled out on the shawl collar.  I didn't pick up and knit enough stitches (off by 2), and the pattern is very confusing.  I have to check for any corrections on the DB site.  So, annoyed with that, it has been shelfed.

I've been studying sock yarn and sock patterns for my Sockapal-2-za pal.  Ordered some Sock Garden from KnitPicks to practice.  I tried to figure out the 2 circular needle method, but it wasn't happening for me.  So, I figure...let's get some socks done on the DPN's before trying to get fancy.

In the meantime, at our first Knit Night, I started a mini One Skein Wonder for Rory, using the left over yarn from mine.  Well, she was in bed when I started, didn't get to measure her shoulder span, guessed, started knitting, and then realized I was way off the next morning.  So, I am starting that again with the correct measurements.

Little progress...hopefully, I can get back on track and start rattling off FO's.

lil' something for me

I was inspired last week to find a quick knit that I could wear to Chuck's ENT senior resident roast last night.  So after seeing the One Skein Wonder on this hilarious blog I knew I found it.

Here is a pic on the hanger.  Dsc05108_1

I'll take another with it on tonight when I don't have to use the autotimer.

I inadvertantly altered the pattern, by doing seed stitch instead of K2P2 ribbing around the neck and back.  Basically, I didn't look at what I was doing and started K P K, and then was too lazy to rip it back.  I like it though.

all things nice

So, I really have been busy travelling, reading, and knitting.  Finding time to post has alluded me though.

Here are some great shots of Rory's cute little Minnowknits top.

Mowing the lawn with Daddy.

Will update FO album with a better pic. soon.  Now on to a baby present for little Duncan who was born yesterday.  (Early...so I technically still have time to finish)  Then I have been thinking I need to maybe interupt with a little somethin, somethin for me.  Possibly making a trip to the yarn store tomorrow...stay tuned.

trying to keep up

I finished the Yummy Blanket for baby Torin.

Yummy_blanket_wrapped_upYummy_torin_blanket

I also just about finished the adorable Noro Cotton Kureyon jumper for Rory.  I just have to go find some buttons.  I tried it on her, and it is soooo cute.  It deserves to be photographed on her, rather than laying on the bed.  Hope to do that today.  Just about to start the little Sugar 'N Spice shirt for her and another baby gift due in June.  Trying to get back on track, there was a few weeks there that I didn't get much knitting done.

Just signed up for a share at Vermont Valley Community Farm.  Can't wait to start getting regular veggies. Rory is just loving broccoli, carrots, zucchini, tomatoes, and avocados.  Can't wait to introduce her to more when the shares start arriving.
